The Performing arts originates in Greece around the sixth century BC, people like Sophocles, a tragic poet, often incorporated dance into their poems and is widely accepted as the roots of Performing Arts. The art has come a long way from that point and now includes theatre, spoken word, magic, musical theatre, opera, music and dance. The term "performing arts" first appeared in the English language in the year 1711. Some people have used the term as a way to describe people that play pokies but this is often misquoted because of the full house, a hand in poker and a theatre filled to capacity.
